Vidarbha Nature Conservation Society (VNCS) is a registered non-governmental organization working with a view to help forest dependent communities to earn their livelihoods from the local natural ecosystem. We work in the field of community forestry under Community Forest Rights and livelihoods of tribal and other forest dwellers, governance and empowerment, environmental education, natural resource based sustainable livelihoods, women empowerment in Gadchiroli, Gondia and Nagpur districts of eastern Vidarbha (Maharashtra).

• We are headquartered at Nagpur with field offices at Deori, Dist. Gondia and Armori, Dist. Gadchiroli of Maharashtra state, India.
• We work with state and central departments like forest, tribal development, agriculture, irrigation, fisheries and rural development etc. and agencies like Oxfam-India, Swissaid-India, UNDP,FF,PHF, APF, DFID, DA etc.
• The work involves capacity building of the community, strengthening their institutions, training, awareness, implementation of Forest Right Act and Biodiversity Act, PESA in tribal dominated areas. We are looking for placement of a suitable person for the following post: Program Officer (PO)

Job Description:

• 01 post of program officer (PO)for our field office (either at Armori, Dist. Gadchiroli or at Deori, Dist. Gondia).
• The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing our program on tribal rights, forest based sustainable livelihoods in a cluster of about 50 villages, project and office reports, documentation, new proposal drafting, advocacy with government and other agencies etc.
• Work involves occasional travel.

Qualification:

• Any graduate or Post Graduate, preference to M.S.W., B.Sc., M.B.A. (Rural Development/Forest Management), GPS, forest mapping and survey.
• Only person with 3+ years of experience of similar work and having worked as PO earlier, to apply.
• Fluent in Hindi/Marathi and English, knowledge of computer is essential (operations in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), good oral and written communication is must.
• Commitment to the cause and spirit of sharing responsibilities is another expectation.

Salary:

Between 25k to 35k per month, as per qualification and experience.
